April 17, 2025, Board Meeting Minutes

 The McKenzie Memorial Board of Trustees meeting was called to order on April 17 at 4:00 pm per Scott. He reported we have money in the treasury, but didn’t have the numbers with him, as we met early to go to look and plan for our future library being relocated at the old American Legion building. Mayor Griffin met us there and gave us some input on the future for the library. This will not happen overnight, but we can plan ahead for our new placement in the future. Very exciting for everyone. The city owns our current library, and the new site is ADA compliant. Jenny, Jill, and Ceil will meet and gather information (grant possibilities), and report back to all at the next meeting.

 Jenny gave her report that the disaster plan is being worked on; TEL training for Ceil and Adora needs to be done by June 2025. Our updated documents need to be completed asap. The budget has been submitted, but there is no word back, but it is being worked on. The public service agreement states we abide by TN law, a yearly approval is needed, and Jill will sign agreement, and there will be further discussion at the next meeting date.

     Our meeting dates have been set, June 12, August 14, October 9, Dec. 4(2025) and Feb. 12, April 9, and June 1(2026). If something comes up, dates may change. Edward made a motion to change time to 4:00 pm, seconded by Kim. All in favor.

     Scott got his books when we returned from the new building location and gave the Treasurer's report. CD-$20, 993.12, Savings-$5,931.92, and Checking-$3,972.09. Approved as read.

     Ceil passed out the Library Director’s report to everyone, along with the Inclement weather Policy, and the Summer Program agenda-30 different programs will be available to children this summer. Vote on the inclement weather policy was done, with motion to approve by Shirley, and seconded by Edward. Ceil has to contact the Board of Trustees when the library will be closed or changes in hours of operation.

     There was no old business, and in new business, the last day of school is May 22. We need to get the summer program agenda and library functions to the schools for availability to the children.
